Couple Story
"Alexander and I met at the American School of Tampico at the age of fifteen years old. I had attended that school my whole life and Alex had just moved to Mexico from Bolivia. Only a year after our brief meeting, I moved to Texas to study abroad. Little did I know that Alex would be attending the same university as me six years later. Alex and I occasionally bumped into each other at parties and get-togethers with other friends from Mexico but we never saw each other in a romantic way. We went our separate ways once again when Alex moved to Lubbock to attend Texas Tech and I moved to Barcelona to pursue my Master's degree. In 2017  Alex and I bumped into each other at a mutual friends party at Alex's house. I had no idea Alex was back from college and he had no idea I was back from Spain. We talked all night that night and he ended up giving my friends and I a ride back home. I waited for my friends to get out of the car and since I was sitting in the passenger's seat, I was able to sneak a little kiss before pulling away and saying goodbye. As the song says, "ever since that night, we've been together, lovers at first sight, in love forever".  After three years of dating, on December 26th, 2021, Alex took me to see the Christmas lights in Johnson City, Texas, got down on one knee, and asked me to marry him. Needless to say, I said yes."

Wedding Theme

"I have always been a hopeless romantic so I knew I wanted to have my princess moment on my wedding day. I was always obsessed with the scene in the first Sex and the City movie when Carrie gets to try on all the wedding dresses for the Vogue photoshoot, so I definitely drew some inspiration from that for my wedding photos. Alex and I had never been to Mérida before but the city had such a wonderful energy we just knew it was the right place for us. When we visited our venue, the Quinta Montes Molina, a majestic early 20th century house, we fell absolutely in love. Once I saw the venue I was automatically transported to the show Bridgerton and remembered the beautiful Wisteria tree outside the Bridgerton house and knew our color pallette had to include purples, lilacs, whites, and greens."

Why Did you choose Freya Rose shoes?

"Let me start by saying I never shop online. I don't know if it's my Venus in Taurus or what but I need to try on the product, see the construction, touch the materials, and make an experience out of shopping. Like I mentioned before, I was inspired by Sex and the City so obviously the iconic Manolo Blahnik shoes had come to mind. When I saw the shoes in person they just didn't end up being a match for me so I had no idea what I was going to do next or what kind of shoes I would get. When I saw my Celina Blue shoes online my heart skipped a beat. As soon as I saw them I just knew those were my wedding shoes. They were the perfect shade of blue, the satin and the rhinestones shined beautifully, and when I saw they were hand-made in Spain, I knew the comfort would be uncompared. And so it was, I got my shoes in the mail and I was obsessed."

Fun details about our unique day

"Our wedding day felt like a dream I did not want to wake up from. Time went by so fast, if it wasn't for the photos, videos, and our loved ones' stories, I know everything would just be a beautiful blur. I was so nervous the entire day that when my dad handed me to Alex at the altar the biggest sense of peace overcame me. I always thought he would be the one to cry during the ceremony but his energy was so calm and so sure I was the one who ended up crying tears of joy. We danced like crazy, we were surrounded by love, and we even got the priest to dance to Daddy Yankee with us. Overall, it was our fairy tale wedding and like Cinderella, I somehow ended up taking my beloved shoes off at some point during the party and left them God knows where, but thankfully my godmother (in this case more like fairy godmother) found them and took them with her to safety."

Sandra's Top Tip For for future brides

"I will give you the best advice I got before my wedding: stop throughout your wedding day even if briefly, look around, and make it a thing to remember that exact moment. Also, things can always end up going wrong some way or the other and you won't be able to control it. Breathe, odds are no one will remember or notice but you. Enjoy the good things and let the mistakes slide."

Do you have any plans to rewear your Freya Rose heels and if so, how do you envision styling them?

"My wedding shoes are my treasure, it will take a very special occasion for me to rewear them. If I could envision myself wearing them in the near future, I would love to wear my Celine Blue heels to my first baby's baptism; obviously now with a shorter dress with a more body-hugging silhouette to show them off and let them sparkle as they should!"
